Vermes to Coach 2013 MLS All-Stars in KC

Commissioner Don Garber broke some big news yesterday. In addition to announcing that Sporting Kansas City would be hosting the 2013 MLS All-Star Game, Garber casually revealed that Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes would take helm of the squad.

Vermes, an MLS All-Star himself circa 2000, played along side Kansas City teammates Chris Henderson, Matt McKeon, Tony Meola and Preki in the second to last year of the West versus East MLS All-Star Game structure. Vermes and his side were defeated by a scoreline of 9-4 in the highest scoring All-Star Game in MLS history. In 2002, Major League Soccer switched the format of the All-Star Game by combining the East and West MLS All-Stars to create one stronger unit to then face an international opponent.
