SPORTING KC TO FACE TORONTO FC ON THE ROAD SATURDAY
Sporting Kansas City will look to earn another three points on the road when they face Toronto FC at 12:30 p.m. CT this Saturday at the Rogers Centre.


The match will be broadcast live on KCWE with coverage beginning at 12 p.m. CT and simulcast on ESPN 1510.  Fans can watch the game from the official watch party at the Boulevard Members Club. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. CT and fans can park in Lot D. The new primary jersey will be available for purchase at the event.


SPORTING KC DUO RECOGNIZED FOR SEASON DEBUT PERFORMANCES
Following an impressive start to the 2013 season, two Sporting Kansas City players are receiving League-wide accolades this week. Designated Player Claudio Bieler is nominated for Latino of the Week for his noteworthy debut in which he scored his first MLS regular-season goal. Vote for Claudio here.


Graham Zusi was named one of three top performers in MLS this week for his performance in the match against Philadelphia, in which he notched a goal and two assists.

UNIVISION DEPORTES NETWORK TO AIR TWO SPORTING KC MATCHES
Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that the Univision Deportes Network will air 23 MLS regular season matches, including two Sporting Kansas City games this summer. Sporting Kansas City's match on June 22nd at FC Dallas and July 3rd against Vancouver Whitecaps FC will both air live nationwide on UDN.


With the addition of these two games, 17 Sporting Kansas City's 34 regular season MLS matches will be nationally broadcast in the United States or Canada. Click here to see the full announcement on MLSSoccer.com.


SPORTING KC DEFEATS PHILADELPHIA UNION 3-1 IN SEASON OPENER
Sporting Kansas City defeated the Philadelphia Union 3-1 in their 2013 season opener on Saturday afternoon at PPL Park. Midfielder Graham Zusi played a part in all three goals, scoring in the 41st minute and adding assists on both second-half goals as Oriol Rosell scored the match-winner in the 66th minute and Claudio Bieler scored on his debut in the 83rd minute.


LOPEZ APPEARS IN U20 CONCACAF CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Sporting Kansas City rookie midfielder Mikey Lopez made his fourth appearance in five games for the United States Under-20 Men's National Team as they took on Mexico in the final of the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship on Sunday in Puebla, Mexico. Lopez started and the played the full 120 minutes for Tab Ramos' squad as the U.S. fell to the hosts 3-1 in extra time and were crowned regional runners-up after winning their previous four matches.


The U.S. -- one of four teams to secure a berth in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup this summer in Turkey -- advanced to the finals of the CONCACAF U-20 qualifying tournament for the fourth time in team history, but were beaten in extra time on a game-winning goal from Julio Gomez, who led Mexico to the FIFA U-17 World Cup crown two years ago as the tournament's top scorer.


Lopez, a Generation adidas signee taken in the first round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of North Carolina, returned to Kansas City on Monday.


RESERVES DEFEAT MINNESOTA UNITED FC 2-1 IN SCRIMMAGE
Sporting Kansas City reserves earned a 2-1 victory in a scrimmage against Minnesota United FC on Wednesday at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park on goals from Soony Saad and Yann Songo'o.


Saad opened the scoring in the 52nd minute on a driven, left-footed shot past Matt VanOekel. Three minutes later, Songo'o headed in a corner kick from Saad to double Sporting Kansas City's lead.


Minnesota's goal came from Max Griffin in the 75th minute on a counter attack. Kronberg did well to deny Kentaro Takada on a breakaway to preserve the victory.

SPORTING KC SIGNS CHRISTIAN DUKE AND MECHACK JEROME


Sporting Kansas City announced the acquisition of two new players last week with the signings of midfielder Christian Duke and defender Mechack Jerome.


Duke, selected in the first round of the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft last month out of the University of San Diego, is an Overland Park, Kan. native and played for the Sporting KC Academy beginning in June 2007 while attending Shawn Mission South High School. The 21-year-old appeared in 60 games during his four-year collegiate career, earning six assists. In 2012, Duke played in all 23 games as a senior and helped lead the team to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
Duke led all Sporting KC players during the pre-season with eight appearances and he is one of seven players from the Kansas City area now on the club's active roster, along with Matt Besler, Kevin Ellis, Jon Kempin, Kyle Miller, Seth Sinovic and Michael Thomas.


Jerome, 22, played each of the last two seasons with Orlando City SC, Sporting Kansas City's USL PRO affiliate, and logged 34 appearances in contributing to the club's 2011 USL PRO championship and back-to-back first place regular season finishes. In 2012, he recorded one goal and three assists in 20 appearances and was named All-League Second Team.


SPORTING KC UNVEILS NEW PRIMARY JERSEY


Sporting Kansas City unveiled the team's new primary jersey for the 2013 and 2014 seasons last week during a special Season Ticket Member event held at Sporting Park as part of Major League Soccer's Jersey Week.


The new Sporting KC home uniform is available for purchase online at shop.sportingkc.com and will also be sold at the team's official Watch Party on Saturday inside the Boulevard Members Club at Sporting Park.

Tickets to Sporting Kansas City's first nine regular season MLS matches are on sale to the general public now via Ticketmaster.com. Fans have the opportunity to secure their seats for the first nine regular season MLS matches at Sporting Park, including the highly anticipated home opener on March 16 against rivals Chicago Fire, the U.S. Open Cup rematch against the Seattle Sounders on May 8 and an MLS Cup Playoffs rematch versus the Houston Dynamo on May 26.

SPORTING PARK TO HOST 2013 MLS ALL-STAR GAME, VERMES NAMED COACH
Kansas City will be the host city for the 2013 MLS All-Star Game . The annual showcase event will feature three days of festivities, culminating in a match between the League's top players and a renowned international club on Wednesday, July 31 at Sporting Park, home of Sporting Kansas City.


The 2013 MLS All-Star Game will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. CT on the ESPN, Univision, TSN and RDS family of networks. Exact networks will be announced at a later date. Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes, a finalist for MLS Coach of the Year each of the last two seasons, will coach the 2013 MLS All-Stars.

The 2013 All-Star Game will mark the 10th time that an elite international club has played the MLS All-Stars, who are 6-2-1 in those matches. In addition to honoring the best players in MLS, the game has featured successful, world-famous clubs such as Manchester United (2010 & 2011), Everton FC (2009), Chelsea FC (2006 & 2012), and Chivas de Guadalajara (2003). The opponent for this year's game will be announced at a later date.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SPORTING KC YOUTH CAMPS
Sporting Kanas City and the Sporting Kansas City Academy announced a series of eight camps for youth soccer players of all ages to take place in 2013. The camps offered will provide opportunities for varying skill and experience levels.
