Sporting Kansas City’s Mikey Lopez and the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team fell 1-0 to South Korea in the final match of the Toulon Tournament this morning. Lopez was selected to the roster for the tournament and joined up with the squad after making his first competitive start with Sporting KC on May 28 (a 2-0 win over the Des Moines Menace).
Upon arrival in France, Lopez started in midfield for the United States in their final two matches. He started and went the distance against the Republic of Congo and South Korea. The U.S. concluded the tournament with a 1-4-0 record. The Toulon Tournament marks the U-20's final tune-up before the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup which kicks off on June 21st in Turkey. The United States' roster for the FIFA U-20 World Cup is scheduled to be announced on Friday.
