Matt Besler talks USMNT from Salt Lake City -

Sporting Kansas City defender Matt Besler, in Salt Lake City ahead of the U.S. Men's National Team's FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Honduras on Tuesday at Rio Tinto Stadium, was a guest on 1280 The Zone earlier today. He shared his thoughts on several of his U.S. MNT teammates, including Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley, as well as his personal progression from his days growing up in Kansas City.

"In first and second grade, I always put pro soccer player on what I wanted to be when I grew up. Realistically, I set goals as I went through. When I was in high school, my goal was to get a college scholarship and I worked towards that. Once I got to college, I wanted to become a starter. My sophomore or junior year I was starting and I wanted to make All-Big East. And then it just started getting bigger and bigger. I became a professional and then I wanted to play on the National Team, and now I'm getting that opportunity."

Besler debuted for the U.S. in January and now has six international caps, including appearances in each of the United States' last five games and last three FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Hear the full interview online here.
