Sporting KC recalls Kevin Ellis from loan

Kevin Ellis 2 - Sporting KC vs Orlando City - June 12, 2013

Sporting Kansas City has recalled defender Kevin Ellis from his loan to Orlando City Soccer Club for Saturday's match against Toronto FC. Ellis returned to Kansas City today and will be available for selection on Saturday by Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes before re-joining the team's USL PRO affiliate ahead of their match at the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Wednesday, July 17.

Ellis arrived in Orlando yesterday, along with forward C.J. Sapong, to join Sporting Kansas City teammates Christian Duke and Jon Kempin on loan. All four players started and played the full 90 minutes in Orlando City's 2-1 victory over the Charleston Battery last night.

The 22-year-old Sporting KC Academy product has appeared in each of Sporting Kansas City's last two home matches, making his MLS debut in a 3-2 win over Columbus and earning his first MLS start in a 1-1 draw against Vancouver. Ellis is in his third professional season after signing as the club's second Homegrown Player in 2011.
