U16's & U18's kick off Development Academy

The U-16 and U-18 Sporting Kansas City Academy teams open their 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy seasons tonight at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park (6310 Lewis Rd., Kansas City, MO) when they welcome Lonestar SC Academy from Texas. The U18's will kick off at 5 p.m. CT, followed by the U16's match at 7:30 p.m. CT.

On Sunday, the U16's and U18's will then host the San Antonio Scorpions Youth Academy in a doubleheader beginning with the U18's at 9 a.m. CT and concluding with the U16's at 11:30 a.m. CT.


The U.S. Soccer Development Academy consists of a 10-month season from September through June (or July based on postseason play). There are 79 clubs participating in the U-15/16 and U-17/18 age groups in 2013-14, with Sporting Kansas City competing as one of 13 teams in the Central Conference's Frontier Division.


All Academy home matches are free and open to the public to attend. Parking is free and available on site.
