Seth Sinovic earns MLS Team of the Week honors

Sporting KC defender Seth Sinovic has been named to the MLS Team of the Week following Friday night's performance against D.C. United.


Sinovic played 90 minutes and held down the left flank for a defensive unit that limited D.C. United to only six shot attempts (one on target). The 26-year-old defender has been one of Sporting KC's most consistent performers, having set a career high with 31 games played this season and tying his career high of 30 games started.


On Friday, Sinovic finished tied with Ike Opara for the team-lead in interceptions (6) and finished tied with Chance Myers for the team lead in tackles (4).


Speaking of Opara, the Sporting KC center back was named to SI.com's Team of the Week following his performance against United.


Opara started for the sixth consecutive game and has now set career highs for games played (17), games started (15) and shots on goal (6). Opara has also tied his career best with three goals from the center back position.


Sporting KC returns to action Wednesday night when they host CD Olimpia in their final CONCACAF Champions League group stage match. With a win or a draw, Sporting KC will finish in first place in their group and advance to the quartefinal round of the tournament.
