Two weeks after being formally inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes was named to the University of Rutgers Men's Soccer 75th Anniversary Team. Vermes is joined by U.S. Soccer great Alexi Lalas and former MLS goalkeeper Jon Conway, among others, on the squad.
A first-team All-American in 1987, Vermes is one of the most decorated athletes to have played for the Scarlet Nights. Vermes ranks seventh in all-time points (89) and goals scored (35), 10th in assists (19) and second in game-winning goals (15). Vermes was also named the runner-up for 1987 National Player of the Year award after finishing the season with 21 goals scored.
