Sporting KC U-18s hand FC Dallas first loss of season

Sporting KC U-18s vs. FC Dallas

The Sporting Kansas City Academy U-18 team continued their strong start to the 2013-14 USSDA season with a 3-1 win over the FC Dallas Academy U-18s on Saturday in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The Sporting KC U-18s handed their counterparts from Dallas their first loss of the season and improved their League record to 5-1-3.


University of Denver commit Cole Stevenson put Sporting KC ahead 1-0 in the 40th minute with his sixth goal of the season. Zach Wright, a University of North Carolina commit, doubled Sporting KC's lead in the 87th minute with his team-leading seventh goal of the season and Nic Jaimes sealed the match with his first goal in the 89th minute.


Sporting KC homegrown defender started and played 90 minutes for the U-18s, who are currently third in the Central Conference on points per game (2.00) but first overall in total points (18).


The Sporting KC U-16s also traveled to Oklahoma this weekend to take on FC Dallas. Logan Lucas scored the lone goal for Sporting KC as the squad fell 4-1 to League-leading FC Dallas.


The Sporting KCs U-12s and U-14s traveled to Oklahoma to play friendlies against their FC Dallas counterparts. The U-14s won 2-0 behind a brace from Max Rugova, while the U-12s lost 3-0.


The U-16s and U-18s will travel to Colorado this weekend for matches against Real Colorado on Saturday and Colorado Rush on Sunday. Follow @SKCAcademy on Twitter for updates throughout the weekend.
