Sporting KC to pick third in Dispersal Draft

Chivas USA 2014

Major League Soccer held a lottery today to determine the order for next Wednesday's Dispersal Draft for former Chivas USA players. Sporting KC earned the No. 3 overall selection in the random weighted draw, which was held at Major League Soccer's headquarters in New York City.

ROSTER: Chivas USA

The Dispersal Draft will take place on Nov. 19. All 20 MLS teams, including expansion clubs New York City FC and Orlando City SC, will participate and the draft will conclude when all MLS clubs forego a selection.

MLS clubs acquiring Dispersal Draft players must take players at their full 2015 budget charges and options must be exercised, including any associated transfers or loans. If a team selects a player in the Dispersal Draft but leaves him unprotected ahead of the Expansion Draft on Dec. 10, he will be available for selection by either Orlando City or NYCFC at that time.

Chivas USA’s two Homegrown Players – Caleb Calvert and Marco Delgado – are both eligible for selection in the Dispersal Draft, but striker Erick "Cubo" Torres will not be subject to the Dispersal Draft.

This year's Dispersal Draft will be the second in MLS history. The first was in 2002 following the contraction of the Miami Fusion and Tampa Bay Mutiny. That year, Kansas City drafted Eric Quill with the No. 4 overall selection and Preki with the No. 14 overall selection.
