#TBT: Brad Davis and the legend of San Zusi

Graham Zusi Brad Davis USMNT

San Zusi. It’s a nickname that will live in infamy.

We all remember where we were when Graham Zusi soared through the air and headed a cross past goalkeeper Jaime Penedo, while subsequently altering the World Cup fate of two nations.

But who delivered the pinpoint cross to Zusi in the second minute of stoppage time? None other than Brad Davis, the former Houston Dynamo captain who Sporting Kansas City acquired via trade on Thursday.

Ray Hudson referred to the cross as “an absolute peach.” Truer words were never spoken of a man who has made a career of dropping crosses on a dime to his attacking teammates. With 122 regular season assists, Davis is third on Major League soccer’s all-time chart, behind only Landon Donovan (136) and Steve Ralston (135).

For today’s Throwback Thursday, we’re taking it back to the thrilling night in October. It’s a night that USMNT, Panama and Mexico fans will never forget.
