National TV: Three games highlight the Week 7 MLS slate

You’d be hard-pressed to find a better MLS match in Week 7 than Sporting Kansas City’s road test against the league-leading Portland Timbers. But that’s not to mention the three nationally televised games on tap this weekend — two of which will kick off Friday night.

Philadelphia Union vs. New York City FC | 6 p.m. CT Friday, ESPN & ESPN Deportes

Philadelphia hasn’t reached panic mode just yet, but the Union (0-3-2, 2 points) will enter tonight with an extreme sense of urgency to collect their first win of 2017. The task will be far from easy, as David Villa and New York City FC (2-2-1, 7 points) pack plenty of firepower going forward.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. FC Dallas | 10 p.m. CT Friday, Facebook Live & UniMas

FC Dallas (3-0-1, 10 points) atoned for their CONCACAF Champions League exit with a shutout win over Minnesota United FC last weekend to stay unbeaten in MLS. Their hunt for a second straight Supporters’ Shield title is off to a strong start, but San Jose is 2-0-1 in the friendly confines of Avaya Stadium. This one could go either way.

Orlando City SC vs. LA Galaxy | 1:30 p.m. CT Saturday, FOX & FOX Deportes

The new Orlando City Stadium will play host to a high-profile interconference matchup on the FOX national network. Cyle Larin and the Lions (3-1-0, 9 points) will be fighting for first place in the East, while the Galaxy (2-3-0, 6 points) seek a second straight win behind the influential Romain Alessandrini, who has three goals in his last two appearances.
