In addition to Sporting Kansas City traveling to face Orlando City at 6 p.m. CT Saturday on FOX Sports Kansas City Plus, five matches from Saturday to Sunday will air live across the country. Let's jump right into the slate of national TV games.
Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes | 3 p.m. CT Saturday, Facebook Live & UniMas
The last-place Rapids (1-6-1, 4 points) are in desperation mode with just one win to show from their first eight fixtures this season. This misfiring Colorado side will look to get back on track at home against the San Jose Earthquakes (4-3-3, 15 points), who sit just three points back of first place in the Western Conference. Chris Wondolowski is doing Chris Wondolowski-type things, as evidenced by his four goals and five assists in 2017.
Chicago Fire vs. Seattle Sounders FC | 8 p.m. CT Saturday, ESPN2 & ESPN Deportes
The defending MLS Cup champion Sounders (2-3-4, 10 points) are off to an ominous start, though their position below the red line will do little to phase a team that was dead to rights last July before turning the tide in the most remarkable of ways. Chicago (3-3-3, 12 points) has found inspiration in midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, particularly at home where the Fire are 3-0-1 at Toyota Park.
Portland Timbers vs. Atlanta United FC | 3 p.m. CT Sunday, ESPN & ESPN Deportes
Bring your popcorn for this one. The two highest-scoring teams in MLS square off Sunday afternoon when the Timbers (5-3-2, 17 points) play host to expansion outfit Atlanta United FC (3-4-2, 11 points). Multiple goals are a safe bet in what will be a hotly contested interconference clash, as both sides will attempt to end two-game winless streaks. Plenty of individual quality will be on display as Diego Valeri and Portland aim to outgun Miguel Almiron and Atlanta.
New York Red Bulls vs. LA Galaxy | 5 p.m. CT Sunday, FS1 & FOX Deportes
All things considered, arguably no team is off to a more tumultuous start than the LA Galaxy (2-5-2, 8 points). Curt Onalfo's men have taken two points from their last four matches, boosting anxiety levels in SoCal to levels not seen since 2008 when the club last missed the playoffs. The Red Bulls (5-5-1, 16 points) have lost five of six road games this season, but they are an entirely different beast in the friendly confines of Red Bull Arena. New York's 19-game home unbeaten streak (16-0-3) is the longest active run in MLS.
FC Dallas vs. New York City FC | 7 p.m. CT Sunday, FS1 & FOX Deportes
Best for last? Many would argue so, as the league's lone remaining unbeaten club hosts high-flying New York City FC (5-3-1, 16 points) on Sunday evening. FC Dallas (5-0-3) has avoided defeat in 13 straight regular season matches dating back to last season and appear more than capable of claiming a second straight Supporters' Shield title. The Sky Blues, meanwhile, are always a dangerous outfit with reigning MLS MVP David Villa joined by the in-form Jack Harrison.
