Sporting Kansas City (12-8-13, 49 points) secured a club-record seventh straight berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs following a scoreless draw against the Houston Dynamo on Sunday night at Children's Mercy Park. Manager Peter Vermes' men now turn their attention to this weekend's all-important regular season finale at Real Salt Salt Lake (12-15-6, 42 points), kicking off at 3 p.m. CT Sunday inside Rio Tinto Stadium.
FOX Sports Kansas City and FOX Sports Midwest will televise three hours of live coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT, while La Grande 1340 AM will air a live Spanish radio broadcast. Live streaming will be available on FOX Sports GO and the Sporting KC Uphoria app will provide live updates of matches across the league as the playoff picture takes full shape.
Sporting KC's visit to Real Salt Lake is one of 11 MLS matches that will kick off simultaneously as part of a dramatic Decision Day slate. Beginning at 3 p.m. CT, ESPN will air live whip-around coverage of every game, capturing all goals and playoff developments on the last day of the regular season.
Prior to facing Real Salt Lake, Sporting KC will train at 10 a.m. CT Tuesday through Friday at Swope Soccer Village. The Swope Park Rangers will host African soccer icon Didier Drogba and Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Western Conference Quarterfinals on Saturday at Swope Soccer Village. Kickoff at Children's Mercy Victory Field is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and tickets are available via SeatGeek.com. Led by head coach Nikola Popovic, the reigning USL Western Conference champion Rangers finished the regular season in fourth place for a second straight year. SPR finished as USL Cup runners-up in their inaugural 2016 campaign.
Sporting KC homegrown signing Jaylin Lindsey and the United States U-17 Men's National Team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India, where the side will meet England or Japan on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. CT inside Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, India. The match will air live on FS2 and Telemundo.
The Sporting KC Academy continues its 2017-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy campaign on Saturday, facing the Dallas Texans in a tripleheader at the University of Tulsa. The U-15s kick off at noon CT, followed by the U-17s at 2:30 p.m. and the U-19s at 5 p.m. Follow @SKCAcademy on Twitter for live updates throughout the afternoon.
Fans of all ages are welcome to enter the FIFA 18 No Other FIFA League, taking place at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power & Light District (1370 Grand Blvd.) every Wednesday in partnership with Sporting KC and KC Crew. The league will begin Oct. 25 and run through Nov. 29, and participation is $40 per team. Registration is now open at kc-crew.com.
