Sporting Sounds: Matt Besler reflects on comeback win over Quakes, previews #SKCvMIN

Sporting Kansas City captain Matt Besler made his customary appearance on Sports Radio 810 WHB this morning, joining Border Patrol hosts Nate Bukaty, Steven St. John and Jake Gutierrez ahead of Thursday's pivotal Heineken Rivalry Week showdown with Minnesota United FC at Children's Mercy Park.

Besler first harkened back to last weekend's comeback win over the San Jose Earthquakes, which saw Sporting overcome a 1-0 deficit with second-half goals from Benny Feilhaber and Graham Smith. The result certainly boosted Sporting's hopes of climbing above the playoff line, but Besler acknowledged that anything less than three points against the Loons on Thursday would represent a missed opportunity.

The 11-year MLS veteran also shared the story behind the postgame beer he enjoyed immediately after Saturday's game against San Jose. It may not have been the coldest of brews, but Besler was nonetheless happy to celebrate a big victory in front of the Cauldron.

#SKCvMIN will kick off at 8:30 p.m. CT on Thursday with national television coverage on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. Streamers can catch the game via the ESPN app, while listeners can tune into Sports Radio 810 WHB and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM. Tickets for the pivotal Western Conference clash are available at SeatGeek.com.
