Captain Ovidio Rivera-Castro  

Captain Castro is a 23 year veteran of the United States Army. After completing Officer Candidate School in 2008, he deployed with the One Ninety Second Explosive Ordinance Disposal Battalion in Operation Iraqi Freedom through 2009. In 2012, he was deployed for two (2) year tour in Operation Enduring Freedom, as a Military Intelligence Specialist for the Third Infantry Division, Third Combat Aviation Brigade. Among his honors are the Army Overseas Service Ribbon, the Nato Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal and Afghanistan Campaign Medal, as well as the Meritorious Service Medal. 

Captain Castro currently works as a mentor for the Park University Warrior Center, assisting younger veterans and active-duty students in accessing military eduation and wellness benfits. He is also enrolled in Park’s School for Education and will graduate in May 2018 with his second bachelor’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in math, upon which he will continue his service to the community as a high school teacher.
