Sporting Kansas City announced Tuesday that the club has waived defensive midfielder Amobi Okugo.
Okugo joined Sporting KC in July 2015 and made three MLS appearances. The 24-year-old has played 135 MLS matches as a central defender and holding midfielder in six seasons since being selected by the Philadelphia Union in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
Sporting Kansas City’s current roster is at 26 players heading into the final week of the 2016 preseason, presented by Children’s Mercy. The club will face the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday at 9 p.m. CT in the Desert Diamond Cup, with a live stream of the match available on SportingKC.com.
