WATCH: Besler on Gio and Chicharito ahead of #USAvMEX

Matt Besler USMNT Chicharito Mexico

Matt Besler is no stranger to the Mexican national team. The Sporting KC defender was with the U.S. MNT when the squad earned its first win on Mexican soil with a 1-0 win in an August 2012 friendly. He earned his first start and second cap for the USMNT against Mexico at Estadio Azteca and helped the team to a 0-0 draw, marking only the second time in USMNT history that the team has earned a point at Estadio Azteca in World Cup Qualifying history. Besler also started and played 120 minutes in the CONCACAF Cup as the U.S. fell to Mexico 3-2 in extra time on Oct. 10, 2015 at the Rose Bowl.

The heated rivalry between the U.S. MNT and Mexico will continue on Friday when the Hex kicks off at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus. The match is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CT on FS1 and Univision. Ahead of Friday's highly-anticipated showdown, Besler spoke with Univision about squaring off against Giovani Dos Santos, Chicharito and the Mexican national team.
