From November 11th-13th, 2022 Sporting Kansas City will host its inaugural ‘High Performance Summit’. At Sporting Kansas City, we believe the essence of the High-Performance in sport is about removing silos, to allow practitioners with different backgrounds and expertise to work collaboratively in creating a holistic framework for developing athletes to reach their highest potential. The purpose of the High-Performance Summit is to bring together members from various roles in the High-Performance structure to share best practices and latest methodologies in planning and periodization, testing and monitoring, performance enhancement, recovery, nutrition, and return to sport.

Sporting Kansas City invites attendees from all levels, including professional, collegiate, high school, private sector, and youth teams to investigate the needs of the elite level soccer player. By bringing in some of the brightest minds in Performance Enhancement, Sport Science, and Rehabilitation, we believe the content will be applicable to individuals working in any sport. By hearing real world examples, the goal is that you will have practical solutions to take away and apply within your own environment.

Additionally, our hope is to provide an open environment where individuals can meet and engage others, and where the sharing of ideas and learning goes beyond the classroom.

  • Early Bird Registration: $425 (only valid for those who register before October 14)
  • Regular Pricing: $495
  • Student Sponsorship: Undergraduate or graduate students majoring in exercise science, athletic training, or a related field have the opportunity to submit a 300-500 word essay, for a chance to receive free admittance to the summit. The essay should describe their view of an effective high-performance model in sport and why they seek to be a part of one. Only five applicants will be selected. Essays should be submitted to sportingkcperformance@gmail.com by October 1st.

Cancellations with full refund will be provided before November 7, based on needing to order the food and supplies. No refund will be provided for cancellations after November 7. Dr. Matt Taberner's Background: Previous Director of S&C, Orlando Magic (NBA), Previous Head of Rehabilitation and Sport Science at Everton FC (EPL), Previous Head of Academy Sport Science at Aston Villa FC (EPL). Matt established the well-known Return to Sport Framework: ‘Control to Chaos Continuum’.


Dr. Dave Hancock's Background: Current CEO for Apollo (Athlete Management System). 26 years working in elite sport, Previous Director of Health and Performance, New York Knicks (NBA), Previous Head Physiotherapist for Chelsea FC, Wolves FC, Leeds United FC, and Blackburn Rovers FC (EPL), Previous Physiotherapist for England Men’s National Team.


Dr. David Opar's Background: Current Director of Sports Performance, Recovery, Injury & New Technologies (SPRINT) Research Centre and associate professor in Exercise Science at Australian Catholic University. Dr. Opar also heads up the ACU Hamstring Injury Group and is leading the way in hamstring injury research.


Jonas Tawiah Dodoo's Background: Current Director and Head Coach for ‘Speedworks’, a UK based company that consults with Championship and Premiership Football and Rugby first team staffs and players. Additionally, Jonas was mentored under legendary Track and Field Coach, Dan Pfaff, and has a current group of elite track and field sprinters that he coaches.


Scott Piri's Background: Previous Head Fitness Coach for Galatasaray S.K. (Turkish Super League), Previous Conditioning Coach for the Turkish and German National Teams, Previous Head Fitness Coach for NY/NJ Metro-Stars (MLS), Previous NFL and NBA combine preparation.


Tony Jouaux's Background: Current Head of Strength and Conditioning for New York Red Bulls (MLS), Previous Head Fitness Coach for Chicago Fire (MLS).


Dr. Gary Walker’s Background: Current Director of Sports Performance at FC Cincinnati (MLS), Former Head of Strength and Conditioning and First-Team Fitness Coach at Manchester United for over 10 years (EPL), Former Physiologist at the English Institute for Sport.


Dr. Gareth Sandford’s Background: Current Sport physiologist at the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific with Athletics and Triathlon Canada, Current Team sport consultant with various Professional (EPL) and National Soccer Federations. Previous sport science roles include High Performance Sport New Zealand, Loughborough Sport and Chelsea Football Club.


Rikki Keen’s Background: Current Senior Sports Dietitian at United States Olympic Committee (USOC), Previous Director of Performance Nutrition at Orlando City Soccer Club (MLS), Previous Team Dietitian at Oakland Raiders (NFL), Previous Team Dietitian for US Women’s National Soccer Team.


Bill Knowles' Background: President of Knowles Athletic [www.knowlesathletic.com]. Bill has over 33 years of experiences in reconditioning and athletic development. He is recognized throughout the world as a leading expert in delivering progressive strategies for professional athletes who are joint or load compromised; and are striving to return to performance. Bill has worked with over 80 professional teams and national governing bodies; including in soccer  - Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid. In 2013 Bill also developed the Athletic Development model for the Philadelphia Union Academy.


Dr. Meeta Singh's Background: Dr. Singh is a board-certified physician and psychiatrist concentrated in the applied science of sleep. Her evidence-based approach integrates individualized medical, psychiatric and behavioral diagnosis and coaching to improve clients’ sleep health for their optimized physical and mental performance and enhanced health and quality of life. Dr. Singh combines this expertise with extensive real-world experience working with world-class performance organizations to produce Integrated Sleep Optimization Programs tailored to the unique needs and conditions of individual clients to help them optimize their personal and professional performance. Dr. Singh has served as a consultant for multiple NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, Olympic and college sports teams, as well as large organizations, CEOs and C-suite executives, all seeking to optimize their competitive performance.”


Dr. Ramsey Nijem's Background: Fresh off a National Championship as the current Director of Sports Performance for the University of Kansas Men’s Basketball team. Previously, Ramsey was Head Strength and Conditioning coach for the Sacramento Kings (NBA), where he was the youngest in the league to hold this position. He has established himself as a well-known educator and has developed a highly successful continuing education program, called the Applied Performance Coach Certification (APCC).
