A Rare Experience

Last Saturday, Swope Park hosted the inaugural Rare Experience Walk to raise awareness and funds for rare disease patients and The Victory Project. The one-mile walk through Swope Park also featured a face painting station, dunk tank and 5v5 soccer.

Several rare disease patients completed the walk including two-and-a-half year-old Jorie Heinlein. SportingKC.com had the chance to talk with Jorie's mom about her condition and the mother of two had nothing but wonderful things to say about the walks organizers (Heritage Biologics) and Sporting Kansas City's eagerness to get involved.

All participants were provided free passes to attend Sporting KC Day at the Zoo to meet Sporting Kansas City players and watch the pros interact with the Zoo animals. One lucky participant, Mike Montgomery won a special prize. Montgomery was chosen through a random draw as the Rare Warrior and will get to enjoy an exclusive meet and greet with Sporting Kansas City players at an upcoming training session.
