Affiliates in Action: Orlando City SC prevails in meeting of USL PRO affiliates

Sporting KC has partnered with USL PRO clubs Orlando City SC and OKC Energy FC for the 2014 season. As part of the agreement, Sporting KC will loan players to the clubs to play games and gain experience throughout the year. Each week, we’ll recap the performances of the Sporting KC players on loan.



Orlando City SC (4-0-2, 14 pts) remains atop the USL PRO standings after back-to-back wins on the road last week. Midfielder Mikey Lopez came off the bench in both victories as the Lions handed FC Dallas Reserves (3-1-0) their first loss of the season last Tuesday at Toyota Stadium and then spoiled the OKC Energy FC (2-3-0, 6 pts) home opener on Saturday at Pribil Stadium.






The teams will meet in a rematch at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sunday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. On Wednesday, Orlando City SC hosts the NASL's Tampa Bay Rowdies in the I-4 Derby.

The homegrown goalkeeper returned from the United States Under-21 Men's National Team training camp and played the full 90 minutes for OKC Energy FC in the 2-1 loss on Saturday. Kempin made four saves and now has 14 on the y

Mikey Lopez (Orlando City SC)


The Generation adidas member was a late-game sub for the reigning USL PRO champions in both matches last week, entering in the 80th minute of a 3-2 victory over FC Dallas Reserves and then in the 85th minute of Saturday's 2-1 win in Oklahoma City.
