Alekzandur Qualifies for eMLS League Series 1 presented by Coca Cola 

Sporting Kansas City’s eMLS representative Alekzandur is one of eight qualifiers for eMLS League Series 1 presented by Coca-Cola after an incredible showing over the last two days of qualifiers. The quarterfinals of eMLS League Series 1 are set for Saturday, Jan. 15 while the rest of the tournament will take place Sunday, Jan. 16. The event will be streamed on MLS Twitch, MLS Twitter and on MLSsoccer.com. 

Despite not being listed in the top 10 of eMLS’s power rankings ahead of qualifiers, Alekzandur began an incredible run all the way up to fourth place. This is just the second time Sporting Kansas City has made it to this portion of either eMLS League Series event.  

Alekzandur started off qualifiers red hot, winning his first six matches before drawing his last two to close out the first day. He defeated Chicago Fire’s Kid M3mito 1-0 before thrashing CF Montreal’s Loux11 5-0 and Charlotte FC’s Khaled Ali 7-0.  

Alekzandur followed those victories up with another 1-0 win this time beating FC Dallas’ AlanAvi. Alekzandur’s fifth win came from a 4-0 thumping of Vancouver Whitecaps’ exraa. Alekzandur and San Jose Earthquakes’ BenR put on a goal-scoring clinic combining for 12 goals. Alekzandur netted eight of them winning his sixth straight match. 

A 2-2 draw against Portland Timbers’ RCTID Thiago and a 3-3 draw with Philadelphia Union’s Smatias17 concluded the first day of League 1 Qualifiers with Alekzandur in second place.  

Day two opened with Alekzandur drawing 3-3 with Toronto FC’s GoalMachine before two consecutive 3-1 triumphs over Seattle Sounders’ Adrian and Austin FC’s xVerde. Alekzandur’s undefeated streak stretched to 12 matches as he knocked off NYCFC’s NYC Gustavo 2-1 before suffering his first defeat of qualifiers 5-3 to New York Red Bulls’ doolsta. Alekzandur’s final match of qualifiers was a defeat to DC United’s KingCJ0 bringing an end to an incredibly successful two days. 

Alekzandur is pursuing both his and Sporting KC’s first-ever eMLS title. His quest for the League Series 1 crown begins with a matchup against fifth-seeded Joksan who represents Nashville. eMLS League Series 1 consists of a two-leg, knockout-style tournament with the winner taking home a portion of the $15,000 prize pool. The competition will take place on EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22 and will be played exclusively on PlayStation®5 (PS5™) marking eMLS’s debut season played on the next-generation console.
