Major League Soccer announced today the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Matchday 29 of the regular season with Sporting Kansas City forward Andre Luiz honored as one of the top 11 players in the league.

Andre earns MLS Team of the Matchday recognition for a fourth straight week - becoming the first player in the Western Conference to do so this season - after scoring twice in the club's 3-3 draw with the Portland Timbers on Saturday at Sporting Park.

The 24-year-old Brazilian winger sparked the comeback with a goal in first-half stoppage time and went on to score the equalizer in the 73rd minute as SKC rallied to earn a result from a two-goal deficit for the first time since May 25, 2025.

Andre now has eight goal contributions (seven goals, one assist) in his last five games. His five-game scoring streak is the longest active streak in Major League Soccer and the Designated Player is the third player in club history to record goals in five consecutive regular season matches.

Acquired in a club-record transfer this summer, Andre has seven goals since Sept. 10 - most in Major League Soccer - to become the first player in club history to score seven goals in his first seven appearances.

"A player with his quality and the start he's had here is obviously the engine of this team," Sporting Kansas City head coach Raphael Wicky said in his postgame press conference on Saturday. "If you have a player like that who in every moment can make a difference, can beat a guy and curl it into the top corner, that is obviously great to have. He shows this. He shows this in training. He's a good teammate for the guys."

Sporting Kansas City will return to the road this week to take on Supporters' Shield leaders Nashville SC at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday at GEODIS Park.

The cross-conference clash will be available to watch in English and Spanish on Apple TV in addition to local radio coverage on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM with audio streams in the SKC mobile app. All of the action will also be shown in pub partners across the Sporting Pub Network.
