If you weren't able to make it out to Children's Mercy Park last weekend, you missed quite the show, on and off the field. Sporting Kansas City defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 becoming one of just three teams to remain perfect through the first two weeks of the MLS season. Dom Dwyer scored both goals in the victory including a fifth minute blast from 28 yards out.
The stadium was electric for obvious reasons, but the energy from crowd may have also had another root. Children's Mercy Park welcomed the 2016 season with a one-of-a-kind pregame show highlighted by a mini concert featuring The Architects followed by Tech N9ne leading the stadium in the "I Believe" chant.
The Architects performed a song called "We're Goin' Live" from their album Border Wars.
What do The Architects, Tech N9ne and Sporting Kansas City all have in common? They all hail from the same great city in the middle of America. Both the Cauldron and South Stand also kicked off the season with a pair of memorable tifos.
Sporting KC returns to Children's Mercy Park on Sunday to host Toronto FC. The nationally televised match will kick off at 6 p.m. CT on FS1 or FOX Deportes. Limited tickets are available and can be purchase at Ticketmaster.com or at the Children's Mercy Park Box Office tomorrow.
