Benny Feilhaber nominated for 2015 Latino del Año

Benny Feilhaber is one of 32 nominees for the annual award honoring the best players in Major League soccer born in Latin America and Spain and those born in the United States with Hispanic roots. The Brazilian-born midfielder had a career year in 2015 with 10 goals and 15 assists in MLS play and a club-record 20 assists in all competitions.



Sporting Kansas City’s 2015 MVP, Feilhaber was selected Etihad Airways MLS Player of the Month in April before earning MLS All-Star honors for the first time in his career. He was named to the All-Star Fan XI and competed in the 2015 MLS All-Star Game on July 29. Feilhaber played a part in 32 of Sporting KC’s 64 goals in all competitions and helped lead the team to its fifth consecutive appearance in the MLS Cup Playoffs. He finished the regular season among the top 10 MLS midfielders in chances created (5th), recoveries (7th), duels won (7th) and tackles won (10th).


Feiilhaber is one off four Brazilian-born players in the field joining Orlando City SC midfielder Kaka, LA Galaxy midfielder Juninho and New York Red Bulls midfielder Felipe. The Sporting KC midfielder was placed in Group D with Matias Laba (Vancouver Whitecaps), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) and David Villa (New York City FC).
