Bunbury Scores 1st International Goal

Teal Bunbury made his USA debut Nov. 17 in 1-0 win at South Africa.

Sporting Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury was on the bench to start tonight's USA-Chile friendly, but that didn't keep him off the score sheet. Bunbury tied the match at 1-1 in the 75th minute, converting a penalty kick to the lower-right corner as the goalkeeper went to the left. Young strike partner Juan Agudelo of the New York Red Bulls drew the penalty with a great run into the area one minute earlier.

Chile had taken a 1-0 lead 53rd minute through World Cup veteran Esteban Paredes. Chile broke free up the right flank, beating Zach Loyd and serving a ball for Paredes in the middle of the area. Paredes held off Marvell Wynne and hit an acrobatic half-volley inside the left post from close range for a 1-0 lead.

Bunbury entered in the 60th minute along with Agudelo for Chris Wondolowski and Brek Shea. Both players were making their 2nd international apperance. Both Bunbury and Agudelo have scored one goal for the Red, White and Blue. Immediately after their introduction, the United States looked more dangerous.
