Major League Soccer announced today the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Matchday 21 of the regular season with Sporting Kansas City forward Calvin Harris honored as one of the top 20 players in the league following the team's 1-1 draw against rivals St. Louis CITY SC on Wednesday at Sporting Park.
The 26-year-old winger scored the game-tying goal -- and the club's 1,000th goal at home in all competitions -- in the 55th minute on an assist from Taylor Calheira to keep Sporting unbeaten at home against St. Louis CITY SC.
"It was a great play from everyone involved," Harris told media in the locker room postgame. "Taylor (Calheira) puts it on a plate just like he did a few days ago as well in Colorado and this time it finds the other side of the post."
Harris has eight goal contributions in his first season with Sporting KC, tallying three goals and a team-high five assists while appearing in all 20 matches this season.
After the mid-week match, Sporting Kansas City will return to the road to take on Atlanta United on Sunday Night Soccer. Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in set for 6 p.m. CT and the cross-conference match-up will be available to watch in English and Spanish on Apple TV while pub partners across the Sporting Pub Network will also show all of the action. In addition, local radio coverage will air on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM.
