Sporting Kansas City sealed passage to the Western Conference Championship of the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Real Salt Lake on Sunday at Children’s Mercy Park.
Diego Rubio opened the scoring, Ilie Sanchez converted a penalty kick and Daniel Salloi bagged a brace as Sporting KC defeated Real Salt Lake 5-3 on aggregate in a pulsating conference semifinal series between fierce MLS rivals.
With Sunday’s momentous win in the books, top-seeded Sporting KC will now face the No. 5 seed Portland Timbers in the two-legged Western Conference Championship, playing away in the first leg on Sunday, Nov. 25, before hosting the decisive second leg on Thursday, Nov. 29.
Tickets for the second leg of the Western Conference Championship at Children’s Mercy Park, slated for 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN, are now on sale to the general public at SeatGeek.com.
