Eric Kronberg's lunging save nominated for MLS Save of the Week

Save of the Week: Week 9

Sporting KC goalkeeper Eric Kronberg was a rock yesterday. The veteran 'keeper made four saves vs. the Columbus Crew, tying a season-high that he set on March 8 vs. Columbus. The California native would have had a fifth save, had Jairo Arritta not been offside on a rebound attempt that Kronberg blocked in the 65th minute.

But while Kronberg was steady all afternoon, blocking shots and picking off crosses, the play that most stood out was his save on Bernardo Anor in the 31st minute.

The Crew midfielder looked to have leveled the match when he headed Wil Trapp's cross low on target, but Kronberg reacted quickly to block the attempt, dropping to his right and blocking the attempt with his right hand. Oriol Rosell cleaned up the rebound to keep the Crew off the board en route to Sporting KC's 2-0 victory on Sunday.

Kronberg's save on Anor caught the attention of national media, as the save has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week. Click here for watch all five nominees. Voting runs until 1:59 am CT on Friday.
