Sporting Kansas City hits the road this week to take on table-toppers Nashville SC at GEODIS Park on Wednesday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and will be available to stream on Apple TV, while the game will also be broadcast locally on the radio via Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM.

1. GOALS KEEP FLOWING

Sporting Kansas City continued the team’s recent goalscoring trend this past weekend, finding the back of the net on another three occasions in the 3-3 draw against the Portland Timbers at Sporting Park on Saturday night.

Sporting has now scored 15 goals in the team’s last six matches - a clip of 2.5 per match - after scoring just 20 in the team’s first 22 contests of the season (0.91 per match). Much of that is down to the heroics of newcomer Andre Luiz who has scored in five straight matches and is the first player in SKC history to score seven goals in his first seven appearances for the club. Sporting has also scored three goals in three straight MLS regular season home games for only the second time in club history (July 2016).

However, Sporting continues to concede at the other end and has now allowed 68 goals this season - two shy of the club record 70 goals allowed in 2025 and 10 shy of the MLS record 78 set by the San Jose Earthquakes in 2024.

Sporting will now face off against a high-flying Nashville team at GEODIS Park on Wednesday night that sits 12 points clear atop the Supporters’ Shield standings and is on pace to set a new MLS single-season points record. Sporting is in the midst of a hectic month of October that will see the team play seven matches - including games on the first day (Oct. 1 at Seattle) and final day (Oct. 31 vs. Dallas) of the month.

2. RARE SAUNTER TO MUSIC CITY

Sporting Kansas City hits the road this week for a daunting clash with runaway table-toppers Nashville SC at GEODIS Park on Wednesday night. Nashville are currently 12 points clear atop the Supporters’ Shield standings and is on pace to better Inter Miami’s single-season points record of 74 set in 2024.

With matchups few and far between, Sporting and Nashville last met over three years ago on Sept. 20, 2023 with Nashville claiming all three points with a 3-0 win at Sporting Park. Fafa Picault opened the scoring in the first half before Hany Mukhtar and Jack Maher added to the lead in the second half.

Wednesday’s match marks just Sporting’s second visit to Nashville since the Tennesseans entered MLS as an expansion team in 2020. On June 19, 2022, Sporting inflicted Nashville’s first-ever defeat at then brand-new GEODIS Park as goals from Felipe Hernandez and Graham Zusi were enough to seal a 2-1 victory.

The all-time regular-season series is tied at 2-2-0 including another split pair of meetings in 2020 and 2022.

3. ANDRE SETTING RECORDS

Sporting Kansas City record-signing Andre Luiz showed no signs of letting up on his red-hot form this past weekend, scoring another pair of goals during the team’s 3-3 draw with the Portland Timbers at Sporting Park on Saturday night.

With the team trailing 2-0 in first-half stoppage time, Andre first stepped up to take the team’s first penalty of the season - seeing his effort tipped onto the post before slamming home the rebound. Sporting chased the game in the second half and Andre again made the difference when he scored the equalizing goal in the 73rd minute after racing clear of the Portland backline and slotting calmly into the bottom corner to make the final score 3-3.

Andre has now become the first player in Sporting history seven goals in his first seven appearances for the club, while his is one of only three players to score in five consecutive matches, joining Preki (goals in five straight games in 1996) and Johnny Russell (goals in eight straight games in 2021).

Andre’s seven goals since Sept. 10 are the most in MLS while his five-game goalscoring streak is the longest active scoring streak in MLS. The 24-year-old was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for the fourth consecutive week following Saturday’s performance - becoming the first player in the Western Conference to do so this season.

4. REYNOLDS SCORES FIRST FOR THE CLUB

Sporting Kansas City defender Justin Reynolds scored his first goal for the club with a vital strike to spark the comeback in the team’s 3-3 draw with the Portland Timbers at Sporting Park on Saturday night.

The 22-year-old received a pass just inside the penalty area from Taylor Calheira before unleashing a powerful effort that flew beyond James Pantemis in the Portland goal to make the score 3-2, three minutes before Andre Luiz would complete the comeback.

The goal was Reynolds first in Sporting Blue and first since scoring his only other MLS goal as a member of the Chicago Fire with the game-winner in a wild 5-4 victory over eventual MLS champions Inter Miami on Sept. 30, 2025. Reynolds became the 12th different goalscorer for Sporting this season.

5. FIRST CAREER ASSISTS FOR RAMOS & REID

Sporting Kansas City forwards Ruben Ramos Jr. and Seymour Reid each enjoyed a first during the team’s 3-3 draw with the Portland Timbers at Sporting Park on Saturday night, recording the first assists of their MLS careers.

Ramos, coming off a hat trick with the U.S. U-20s over Denmark during the international break, played the ball forward to Reid who quickly sent Andre Luiz scampering clear to slot home the equalizing goal of a wild contest at Sporting Park. Both Ramos and Reid were credited with assists on the goal - their first goal contributions since arriving at the club on loan on deadline day the first time in club history a pair of teenagers have earned the primary and secondary assists on an MLS regular season goal for Sporting.

Ramos joined Sporting on loan from the LA Galaxy with 17 goals and seven assists in his professional career. The 19-year-old forward has previously represented the United States at the U-15, U-16, U-17, U-19 and U-20 levels, including appearances at two Concacaf U-20 Championships in 2024 and 2026.

Reid also joined Sporting on deadline day in a loan deal from New York City FC, having previously recorded 16 goals and three assists for NYCFC and NYCFC II and has also represented Jamaica at the Under-17 level and was called up to the senior squad for the first time in 2025.
