Forward Erik Hurtado bids farewell to Sporting KC

One day after Gerso Fernandes said thank you and goodbye to Sporting Kansas City, fellow forward Erik Hurtado did the same in an Instagram post on Monday night.

Hurtado, 30, has spent each of the last two MLS seasons in Kansas City, scoring seven goals in 33 competitive appearances. His match-winning volley in a 2-1 home result against Nashville SC last October was named Sporting's goal of the season and has widely been tabbed one of the greatest goals in club history.

A product of Santa Clara University, Hurtado played for Vancouver Whitecaps FC from 2013-2018 before swapping British Columbia for Kansas City. His career-high five goals in 2020 helped Sporting to a first-place finish in the Western Conference.
