Sporting Kansas City's group stage campaign in the MLS is Back Tournament will conclude Wednesday with the earliest kickoff in club history. At 8 a.m. CT—yup, that's 8 o'clock in the morning—Manager Peter Vermes' side will take the field against rivals Real Salt Lake at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World
Fresh off a thrilling 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids on Friday, Sporting currently occupies third place in Group D with three points, one point behind co-leaders RSL and Minnesota United FC. A win or a draw on Wednesday would see Sporting clinch progression to the MLS is Back Tournament Knockout Stage presented by Audi. The top two finishers in each of competition's six groups, as well as the four best third-place finishers, will advance to the Round of 16.
