Jaylin Lindsey starts all three games for U.S. U-20s in Men's Invitational

Jaylin Lindsey - U.S. U-20 Men's National Team starting XI in Bradenton

Sporting Kansas City Homegrown defender Jaylin Lindsey started all three matches for the United States U-20 Menā€™s National Team in the U.S. Soccer U-20 Menā€™s Invitational at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.


Lindsey (No. 13 pictured above) and the U.S. U-20s finished second behind the U.S. U-19s, claiming wins over Jamaica and Venezuela on either side of a 1-0 defeat to the U-19s. The Sporting KC right back logged 211 minutes over a five-day stretch from Friday to Tuesday as the U-20 national team, led by head coach Tab Ramos, continued preparations for the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in November.


Sporting KC will welcome back the 18-year-old Lindsey ahead of Saturdayā€™s matchup against the San Jose Earthquakes at 9:30 p.m. CT, which will air live on FOX Sports Kansas City, FOX Sports Midwest Plus and FOX Sports GO.


The U-20 Men's Invitational marked the first time Lindsey has represented the U.S. at the U-20 level, having done so extensively as a U-17 mainstay in 2016 and 2017. Looking forward, the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship will take from place Nov. 1-21 in Bradenton. The competition will determine the four CONCACAF representatives at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.

Friday, Sept. 7: U.S. U-20s defeat Jamaica 3-1

Lindsey logged 76 minutes on Friday as the U-20s rolled to a winning start with a 3-1 defeat of Jamaica. Hannover 96 forward Sebastian Soto bagged a first-half brace, scoring in the eighth and 27th minutes, before Toronto FC product Ayo Akinola slotted home five minutes after the restart. The Reggae Boyz salvaged a late consolation goal after Lindsey had exited the match, grabbing one back through Nicque Daley in the 92nd minute.


Sunday, Sept. 9: U.S. U-20s fall 1-0 to U.S. U-19s

Lindsey played the first 45 minutes of Sunday's match against the U.S. U-19s, ending his shift with the score tied 0-0 at halftime. The game's lone goal came in the 69th minute when Manuel Terrazas set up Ulysses Llanez to give the U-19s a narrow triumph.


Tuesday, Sept. 11: U.S. U-20s defeat Venezuela 3-1

Lindsey and the U-20s ended the tournament on a victorious note, ousting Venezuela by a 3-1 scoreline. The Sporting KC right back played all 90 minutes in the finale as the Americans cruised to their second comfortable victory of the week. Ajax defender Sergino Dest gave the U.S. a lead after just two minutes, but Venezuela drew level near the hour mark courtesy of captain Christian Makoun. The Yanks would then strike twice in the space of two minutes, reclaiming their advantage through Atlanta United FC Homegrown Andrew Carleton and sealing the result on a 65th-minute tally by Akinola.
