Sporting Kansas City defender Mechack Jerome started and played 90 minutes in Haiti's important 2-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Friday night. Peterson Joseph, who started Haiti's previous match, was a late substitute in the second half stoppage time.
Jean-Eude Maurice scored goals in the 16th minute and 53rd minute as Haiti are second place in Group B. The win gives Haiti a bit of breathing room heading into their final match of the group stage. A draw or better against El Salvador (Monday, 6 p.m. CT, Fox Soccer) would more than likely earn Haiti a spot in the knockout stage.
