Sporting Kansas City defeated the Portland Timbers 1-0 at Children's Mercy Park last weekend, but they weren't the only ones that went home with a victory on Sunday. The 2016 Sporting KC Media Game took place at halftime of #SKCvPOR and #TeamMyers earned a 3-1 win over #TeamSinovic in the 10-minute showdown.
Prior to the match, media members were informed that we were on a tight timeline, so they wasted no time to get the game rolling. They even kicked off before celebrity referee and former Sporting KC goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum made his way onto the pitch.
Sporting KC play-by-play announcer Nate Bukaty opened the scoring for #TeamMyers on Sunday, forcing a turnover in the middle of the park and then finding his Sports Radio 810 co-worker TJ Carpenter wide open on the left flank. Carpenter turned on the speed and drove forward up the flank before dishing the ball right back to Bukaty, who took one touch and then rocketed it past opposing goalkeeper Alan Hainkel.

Kansas City Star reporter Sam McDowell doubled the lead for #TeamMyers on a well placed finished to the far post, but Telemundo Arkansas anchor Carlos Chicas' involvement on the play cannot be overlooked. And it was Chicas again with a stroke of brilliance as #TeamMyers took the 3-0 lead on his cheeky finish in the seventh minute.
#TeamSinovic was relentless and eventually found a way to get on the scoresheet, finding the back of the net in the final seconds of the match. KCTV5's Ellen McNamara drove down the left sideline before sending a cross to the back post. 610 Sports Radio producer Benny Heisler redirected the ball with his thigh before a big scrum in the box was ultimately finished by Sporting KC Ivy Funds sideline reporter Jake Yadrich.
