Omar Bravo Scores for Chivas

Omar Bravo has scored over 100 goals for Chivas Guadalajara.

Omar Bravo scored 20 seconds into a 2-1 loss at Atlante on Saturday in Chivas' 3rd match of the Apertura season. Off the opening kickoff, taken by Atlante, Chivas capitalized on a turnover as Adolfo Bautista sent a throughball for Bravo into the Atlante penalty area. Bravo barely beat the Atlante goalkeeper to the ball, taking a touch to the right to elude the goalkeeper and allowing him to score one of the quickest goals in Primera Division play this season.

Bravo played 90 minutes in the loss, earning a yellow card in the 90th minute. Bravo has now scored for Chivas in back-to-back matches, after scoring in the stoppage time of the Copa Libertadores final against storied Brazilian club Internacional on Wednesday.

Chivas is currently 1-1-1 during the Mexican Apertura season, which runs through November 13. They are in 13th place out of 18 teams in terms of points, but their percentage of points taken (44%) would have them in 9th. They have played fewer games than all of their opponents except one due to their deep run in Copa Libertadores.

Chivas and Bravo’s next scheduled match is Saturday, August 28 at home against Pumas (currently 9th place).
