Sporting Kansas City continued the Coachella Valley Invitational with a 2-1 victory over New York City FC on Wednesday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif.

Sporting Kansas City opened the scoring in the 23rd minute as Manu Garcia collected a loose ball at the top of the penalty area, dribbled to the endline and sent a cross that was touched on at the near post by Dejan Joveljic and hammered home by Calvin Harris at the top of the six-yard box.

Joveljic then doubled Sporting's lead three minutes later, capping off a 13-pass scoring sequence -- in which nine different players were involved -- with a first-time finish off a cross from Jake Davis.

New York City FC pulled a goal back from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half as 17-year-old Seymour Reid converted after Jayden Reid was whistled for a foul on Drew Baiera inside the area.

Sporting will conclude the club's preseason with an exhibition against Austin FC at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday. The match will be available for fans to watch online via a free stream at SportingKC.com/live.
