Sporting Kansas City takes on the Supporters' Shield holders San Jose Earthquakes at 9 p.m. CT on Sunday at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The cross-conference match-up will be broadcast nationally on the Univision Deportes Network and locally on KSMO-TV, with coverage beginning at 8:30 p.m. CT.

The team will host their official watch party at Teocali Mexican Restaurant (2512 Holmes St., Kansas City, MO), with festivities beginning at 6 p.m. CT and featuring specials from New Amsterdam Vodka and Shellback Rum.

Sporting Kansas City boasts the best road record (5-3-3) in MLS this season heading into Sunday's match at Buck Shaw Stadium. However, Sporting KC is winless in the club's last 15 road trips (0-10-5) to San Jose in MLS competition (including postseason) in a streak that ranks second longest in MLS history.

Sporting KC holds a one-point lead atop the Eastern Conference entering MLS Week 25 and will face the Earthquakes for the lone meeting between the two clubs during the 2013 regular season. The match marks the sixth Sunday fixture Sporting KC has played during the 2013 season, with the team keeping an unbeaten record (3-0-2) to date on the final day of the week.

Sporting KC's 13 away wins since 2012 are the most in MLS, while San Jose's two home losses in the same span are the fewest amongst all teams. Additionally, Sporting Kansas City has conceded the fewest road goals (26) over the last two seasons and will be up against an opponent in the Earthquakes that have scored the most goals at home (61) of any side since the start of 2012.

The San Jose Earthquakes, led by 2012 MLS MVP Chris Wondolowski, are four points out of playoff position in eighth place in the Western Conference. Now led by interim head coach Mark Watson, the Earthquakes are unbeaten in their last 11 home matches - the longest home unbeaten streak in MLS this season - and are winners of their last four inside Buck Shaw Stadium.

Sporting KC is unbeaten in their last four matches against San Jose, including three victories over that stretch. Manager Peter Vermes' squad earned a 2-1 win in the only meeting a year ago with goals from C.J. Sapong and Kei Kamara at Sporting Park.

Both teams began their 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League campaigns earlier this month as two of the five MLS teams in the competition. Sporting KC earned a 2-0 victory at Real Esteli FC in Nicaragua, while San Jose dropped a 1-0 decision at the Montreal Impact.
