Following a weekend off from MLS play, Sporting Kansas City will return to the pitch in an international friendly match against Club Deportivo Guadalajara on Wednesday night at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Wednesday’s match will be broadcast nationally on ESPN Deportes and will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT.

CD Guadalajara, currently sitting in seventh position in the Mexican Primera División table, have named a roster full of stars to face Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night. New manager Fernando Quirarte has included the likes of Mexican World Cup veterans Luis Ernesto Michel, Jonny Magallón and Alberto Medina in a squad that is complimented by exciting young talent such as Marco Fabián, Kristian Álvarez and 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner Carlos Fierro.

Sporting Kansas City Designated Player Omar Bravo starred for Club Deportivo Guadalajara for more than a decade as one of the most decorated players in the team’s history after debuting at age 20 in 2000. He is the club’s second all-time leading scorer with 108 goals for Club Deportivo Guadalajara.

Wednesday’s match will mark the second time in three years that Club Deportivo Guadalajara have taken the pitch in Kansas City. In September of 2009, CD Guadalajara defeated Club America by a 2-1 scoreline at Arrowhead Stadium in front of 26,119 fans. Wednesday will also mark the second international friendly for Sporting Kansas City at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park after drawing 0-0 with Newcastle United FC of the Barclay’s Premier League on July 20th.

Tickets for the match are still available, and can be purchased here. Fans will be able to listen to an audio broadcast of Wednesday’s action on SportingMembership.com featuring Sporting Kansas City play-by-play commentator Callum Williams.

Fans are encouraged to arrive to LIVESTRONG Sporting Park as early as possible on Wednesday. There will be a fan festival, ‘Futbol Fiesta’, set up in the Sprint Plaza featuring interactive games for both children and adults. Mexican soccer legend Ramón Ramirez will also be in attendance.
