Thoughts on the match…
The fact that there were no injuries, that was certainly the one thing that we wanted to avoid in the game. I think overall, there were signs of good things to come from the first 30 minutes with the first group. We couldn't get any real opportunities on goal but overall a good fitness session for the guys who are still learning our style of play. The second and third groups accounted themselves fairly well and we saw some individuals give some very good performances. Other individuals certainly need to improve their game.
On what the coaching staff takes away after the first week of preseason...
There was very little in terms of the defensive side of the ball. It's an area that we haven't even addressed; we will this upcoming week. When we were in possession of the ball tonight, there was some translation from many of the things that we have talked about. We know we have to be better with the ball but there were certainly some good signs. It's very, very early and the main thing is that the guys get fit and they come away without any injuries. With the exception of Seth (Sinovic), who took a knock to the head and should be fine, everybody comes out with good health.

Thoughts on the match…
It was a practice game for sure. There are a lot of things we need to work through, but overall the guys gave a great effort. There are a lot of things we need to clean up, but for the first game, that’s to be expected.
On the playing conditions…
The field was excellent. The (grounds crew) did a lot of work to make sure there were no puddles on the field. The grass was perfect. Wet conditions make for a nice, fast game and everyone’s just kind of getting back into it.
On the performance of Sporting KC’s young players in the match…
I thought the guys did a very good job. I thought Erik (Palmer-Brown) did an excellent job coming around and covering from behind. I was impressed with the young talent on this team.
