Quotes: Sporting KC 4-1 Colorado Rapids - Feb. 24, 2016

Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes

On the performance of the fullbacks in tonight's match....

The first group started out slow. When they started to push the game a little bit beyond the front foot, we were a different team. When the second group came in, they really took their chances and started pressing the game well, and that was a big difference. And the reason that those guys had an impact in tonight's games — the outside players — is because their timing of runs were good, they were getting into the final third and when you do that, things happen. If you don't make those runs, you'll never have a chance to score.

On where he feels about Sporting KC stands offensively right now...

I'll be honest, it really doesn't matter until the league starts. I think we have more than enough attacking players right now. As I said before, we're looking at another one. It's just that what day that trigger gets pulled and that gets sorted out is really the hangup at the moment, but we'll add one more. But I feel good about the players that we have.

On having both Graham Zusi and Brad Davis providing service to the front line...

We have players on all the lines, and that's going to help us over the course of the season to play at a certain pace and a certain level.

On the likelihood of Dom Dwyer being ready to play the full 90 minutes on opening day...

We'll see. We're working hard to get him to where we want him to be. The good thing is that he hasn't had an adverse reaction since he played, which is good. And he's feeling good. So that part's great and we'll manage the other as we go.
