It all comes down to Decision Day.
In the top billing among 11 MLS matches set to kick off simultaneously at 3:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, first-place Sporting Kansas City (17-8-8, 59 points) and second-place LAFC (16-8-9, 57 points) will battle for the No. 1 playoff seed in the Western Conference as the MLS regular season comes to a thrilling conclusion.
A limited number of tickets for Sunday’s match, including standing-room only tickets, are available via SeatGeek.com as Sporting KC looks to secure the top seed with a win or a draw. The match will also air live nationally on FS1, FOX Deportes and SiriusXM FC, while ESPN 94.5 FM and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM will carry local radio broadcasts.
With so much to digest from Sporting KC’s recent road wins over Vancouver and FC Dallas, and with so much to preview heading into Decision Day, the newest edition of The Sporting KC Show on Sports Radio 810 WHB makes for a must-listen.
Wednesday’s episode with hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine saw the duo welcome three guests—one player, one coach and one expert analyst—to reflect on the club’s recent success and look ahead to Sunday’s mouthwatering tilt against LAFC.
First up was assistant Kerry Zavagnin, who has been with the club as either a player or a coach every year since 2000, when he helped Kansas City win its first MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield title.
Next up was Sporting KC’s color commentator Matt Lawrence, who dove into Sunday’s matchup against an attack-minded LAFC side that boasts plenty of offensive talent but has yet to find consistency along the backline.
Bukaty and Augustine wrapped up the show by chatting with reigning MLS Defender of the Year Ike Opara. The center back anchored last weekend’s shutout of FC Dallas, a 3-0 victory that puts Sporting KC in pole position going into the final day of the regular season.
