On the same day Sporting Kansas City announced his contract extension through 2023, Manager Peter Vermes joined Sports Radio 810 WHB for an interview with Soren Petro of The Program.

"I'm ecstatic to be going into my 13th year with the organization," said Vermes, who began his current tenure as Kansas City's technical director in 2006. "The opportunity to be extended through 2023 tells me a lot in regards to the club's commitment and vice versa. I don't want to sound corny, but this has been my life's work, and I'm extremely excited to continue to build the project that we have had this vision for."
