Scott Lorenz loaned to NSC Minnesota Stars

Sporting Kansas City announced on Wednesday that defender Scott Lorenz has been loaned to the NSC Minnesota Stars of the North American Soccer League.

"I'm looking forward to it," Lorenz said. "I had talked to (Manager) Peter Vermes and we both agreed the loan opportunity would be the most beneficial for me to get games, stay fit and improve my technical side. I will be able to go to a club I'm familiar with then come back to Sporting Kansas City a sharper, better player."

Lorenz signed with Sporting Kansas City in February after beginning his professional career with the NSC Minnesota Stars in 2010, where he was named the team's Rookie of the Year.

The University of Wisconsin alum made his MLS debut in Sporting Kansas City's second game of the season at Chicago this year. He also started each of the team's five MLS Reserve League games to date, and was in the starting lineup for both of the club's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches.

Lorenz will join the NSC Minnesota Stars for the remainder of their 2011 season, with the club currently tied for third place with 11 games remaining. The NASL regular season is scheduled to end on September 24th, with playoffs continuing through October 29th.
