#SKCvNY: "Club and Country" festivities coming to Sporting Park

American and Sporting KC flags at Sporting Park

It's shaping up to be a fun Tuesday night in the Soccer Capital of America.


Sporting Kansas City will host the New York Red Bulls at 7 p.m. CT* on May 27 at Sporting Park in a game sponsored by Providence Medical Center and highlighted by the below "For Club and Country" festivities. A limited number of tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL.


PLEASE NOTE - This match was originally scheduled for 8 p.m. CT and was later moved an hour earlier. Kickoff will take place promptly at 7 p.m. CT and all fans are encouraged to arrive early in anticipation of a capacity crowd.
FOR CLUB...

  • Tuesday's match -- to air live on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and Watch ESPN -- will be the first shown on the ESPN network during the 2014 season. Adrian Healey, Kasey Keller and Monica Gonzalez will call the action live from Sporting Park with coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. CT.
  • The first 15,000 fans inside Sporting Park will receive a commemorative replica MLS Cup championship ring.

...AND COUNTRY

  • Tuesday's official match ball will be delivered by Ken Morrow, a member of the USA hockey team that won gold at the 1980 Winter Olympics in New York.
  • One day after Memorial Day, veteran Denver Siercks and his parents will be honored on field during the pre-game ceremonies and the national anthem will be performed by Nathan Grannar.
  • Following the match, all fans are invited onto the field to watch the U.S. Men's National Team -- featuring Sporting KC's Matt Besler and Graham Zusi -- play Azerbaijan at 9 p.m. CT on ESPN2, WatchESPN and UniMas. The game will also be shown in the Boulevard Members Club, as well as in premium spaces throughout the venue. Fans will be allowed to bring blankets inside Sporting Park and concessions will be available for food/drink purchases. All parking lots will remain open until 1 a.m. CT.
  • Sporting Style will be selling a series of four autographed 8x10 prints of Besler and Zusi while supplies last. Both players are part of the United States 30-player preliminary roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer.
