Sporting joins city-wide rally around Chiefs ahead of Super Bowl Sunday

City of Champions - Sporting KC, Royals, Chiefs, KC Woso

Four of Kansas City's major professional sports teams share something special in common.

Sporting Kansas City, Kansas City NWSL, the Royals and the Chiefs have all won two league championships in their proud histories.

On Sunday, the Chiefs will play for their third crown and their second consecutive Super Bowl title when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. CT inside Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Ahead of the momentous matchup, Sporting joined the Kansas City community by rallying around the Chiefs in celebration of Red Friday.

Kansas City sports fans have been treated to a bevy of league championships over the last decade. Sporting, of course, won their second MLS Cup in 2013 before Kansas City claimed back-to-back National Women's Soccer League titles in 2014 and 2015. The Royals snapped their 30-year World Series drought in 2015 and the Chiefs won their first Super Bowl in 50 years last winter.

As Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs prepare to battle Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, excitement across the metro is palpable. Should Kansas City prevail, it will be another massive feather in the cap for a city looking to bring the 2026 FIFA World Cup to the Soccer Capital of America.
