On Saturday, August 1, Sporting Kansas City proudly recognized Lead to Read as the Community Partner of the Game during their match against Houston Dynamo. This partnership highlights Lead to Read KC's vital mission of addressing the literacy crisis in our community by connecting students with dedicated reading mentors, essential resources, and steadfast support.

Lead to Read KC has made significant strides, serving over 88 classrooms across four school districts and mobilizing more than 2,000 volunteer reading mentors. Their impactful programs are designed to improve literacy rates and enhance the educational experience for children in Kansas City.
To further support this mission, Sporting KC, in collaboration with Central Bank, organized a book drive aimed at benefiting Lead to Read. The community was encouraged to participate by donating books at various locations, including Sporting KC offices and Central Bank offices. During the game on August 1, fans had the chance to contribute their books, with the first 100 donors receiving a voucher for a prize at the Central Bank activation area.

Thanks to the generous contributions, over 1,500 books were donated, demonstrating the community's commitment to fostering literacy and supporting local children. This initiative not only highlights the importance of reading but also strengthens the bond between the community and its youth.
Together, through partnerships like these, we can continue to make a positive impact and inspire a love for reading in the next generation.
