Sporting Kansas City II adds goalkeeper Remi Prieur out of Saint Mary's College

SKC II Signs Remi Prieur

Sporting Kansas City II has signed goalkeeper Remi Prieur for the 2020 USL Championship season, the club announced today. Prieur will officially be added to the Sporting II roster pending league and federation approval.

Prieur was selected in the Second Round (47th overall) of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by Columbus Crew SC but did not sign a contract with the club. The 22-year-old completed his collegiate career at Saint Mary’s College in 2019 before declaring for the draft.

After redshirting during his freshman year in 2015, Prieur went on to make 55 appearances for Saint Mary’s across the next four seasons, posting a 0.73 goals against average and 32 shutouts.

Prieur enjoyed a stellar 2018 season, his first as a full-time starter, conceding just eight goals in 20 games to go along with 14 shutouts while leading the Gaels to the WCC Championship for the second time in program history.

The San Ramon, California native earned All-America Third Team recognition and was named WCC Goalkeeper of the Year at the conclusion of the 2018 season. Prieur also earned All-America Second Team honors and was named WCC Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive season following his senior year in 2019.

After not appearing for SMC as a Freshman, Prieur represented Burlingame Dragons FC in USL League Two during the summer heading into his sophomore campaign.

Prior to Prieur’s collegiate stint, he was a member of the San Jose Earthquakes Academy and captained the side to the USSDA National Quarterfinals in 2014 and Semifinals in 2015.
