Sporting Kansas City announced today a new five-year partnership with local wealth management firm, Kornitzer Capital Management (KCM), advisor to the Buffalo Funds, through the 2027 Major League Soccer season.

KCM, headquartered in Mission, Kansas and helmed by President and CEO Joe Neuberger, is one of the top fee-based investment advisers in Kansas City. KCM is the advisor to the Buffalo Funds, led by President Laura Symon Browne. Buffalo Funds are a family of 10 actively-managed, no-load mutual funds which provide a variety of long-term investment options. Buffalo Funds were founded in 1994 by KCM’s founder, John Kornitzer, and the firm’s team-based approach to investing focuses on helping clients identify and achieve their financial goals.

The multi-faceted partnership includes naming rights to the Buffalo Funds Executive Level at Children’s Mercy Park. Located on the west side of the world-class stadium, the upscaled space features 23 suites in addition to an indoor lounge, outdoor balcony, premium dining buffet and full-service bar available to accommodate guests during home matches as well as private events throughout the year.

“Sporting Kansas City is proud to welcome Kornitzer Capital Management as the club’s newest partner,” said Sporting Kansas City President and CEO Jake Reid. “The Buffalo Funds Executive Level is a premier space for guests at Children’s Mercy Park and we’re thrilled to partner with a local company that has such a strong history of service and support for both their clients and the broader community.”

“This partnership between Sporting Kansas City and Kornitzer Capital Management is a great example of two enterprises coming together and working in tandem to elevate each entity,” said Sporting Kansas City Vice President of Corporate Partnerships Jon Moses. “Their longstanding success speaks for itself with extensive experience and expertise in helping individuals and institutions all across our country.”

“KCM/Buffalo Funds is eager to embark on this partnership with Sporting KC and connect with a rapidly growing fan base both in Kansas City and nationally. Sporting KC is a first-class organization and we’re excited to grow our brand along theirs,” shared Presidents Neuberger and Symon Browne.

KCM/Buffalo Funds will host a series of wealth management seminars for Sporting Kansas City suite holders on home matchdays, as well as experiential opportunities for clients including behind-the-scenes tours, field-level access, exclusive photo opportunities and autographed team memorabilia. The partnership will also benefit The Victory Project’s two largest fundraising events – the Victory Gala and Sporting Invitational – with KCM/Buffalo Funds supporting the club’s philanthropic foundation in its mission to help children through all of life’s challenges.

To further showcase the partnership, Buffalo Funds branding will be integrated on in-stadium digital displays, visible on match broadcasts streamed worldwide on Apple TV and also incorporated on the club’s website and mobile app.

Led by Manager Peter Vermes, Sporting Kansas City has reached the MLS Cup Playoffs in 10 of the last 12 seasons since Children’s Mercy Park opened in 2011. The team won four major championships from 2012-2017 and is the only club to reach the U.S. Open Cup semifinals, MLS conference semifinals or Concacaf Champions League semifinals in each of the last six seasons since 2017.

Sporting KC’s 2023 schedule is highlighted by three matches against expansion side St. Louis CITY SC and the club will also compete for an international trophy and a berth in the Concacaf Champions League during the upcoming Leagues Cup this summer.
