Sporting Kansas City announced today that field renovations will take place at Children’s Mercy Park later this fall. The project will begin after Sporting Kansas City’s 2018 MLS season is complete, and the club looks forward to announcing more details in the near term.

As a result of the forthcoming field renovations, the 2018 NCAA Division II Football Championship game, originally set to be played at Children’s Mercy Park on Dec. 15, will now be moved to a different venue.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is currently accepting bids to host the 2018 Division II Football National Championship. Information on bid requirements for the Dec. 15 contest may be found here.

Children’s Mercy Park has hosted the Division II football national championship game since 2014 in partnership with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Kansas City Sports Commission.
